These are Shamanic Rattles with a difference !
Through journeying with different tree spirits,
I am now making Ogham rattles.
Each one is made with as many parts of that particular tree and is filled with its seeds or seed shells whenever possible.
Marked with an Ogham letter and design gathered through intense work with each tree.

Ooo these are simply lovely! I especially love the ones where the leather has been painted with henna or ochre. Gorgeous and rustic!
ReplyDeleteI am the pleased recipient of an Oak ogham rattle by Phil, in fact the very one pictured above, and to say that I am well-pleased would be a major under-statement. The rattle is a thing of magic as well as beauty, a living tool imbued with Earth-energy and the Mystery of Spirit. I cannot say enough good things about it, or about Phil, its crafter/creator. If you are considering purchasing one of these rattles, I urge you, do not hestitate. Whether your interest is Druidry, shamanism, or simply seeking to connect on a deeper level with the spirits of the Earth and the Ancestors, I am confident you will not be disappointed. ReplyDeleteIts wonderful and has an amazing energy!!! I specifically wanted mine dedictaed to my choosen deity Elen of the Ways and Phil was great in working with this. He communicated throughout the making process and journeyed to Elen to receive Her blessing.

I received the yew rattle (pictured above) as a birthday present and I love it!!
ReplyDeleteJust like the bark which has been stripped back to reveal many layers, this rattle speaks to me on many levels; the positive energy, craftsmanship and attention to the smallest detail which has been put into it's making, the adder carving and the yew leaf henna on the deer skin and what they signify, the way in which it sits in my hand and the sound it gives are to name a few things that have made this such a wonderful gift and tool.
If anyone is thinking about getting one of these rattles be assured you will not be disappointed.
I am grateful and honored to have met Phil's craftsmanship and the soulfulness that he imbues in his work. His dedication to the old ways and the love of the Celtic story shine through in the detail and care he invests in connecting with the medicine of the animal and plant life that have given their lives so we may live. The song of the rattle will carry me into the next piece of my journey and is already singing healing vibrations that ripple through the worlds between the worlds.

If someone has magically found their way to this site and is sitting wondering whether it is right to order something as personal as a rattle from someone they have never met – please take that leap of faith as you will not regret it! I certainly don’t. From the few details I gave Phil, he has created the rattle I would have made if I had been able to do it myself. Made of yew, the rattle is really powerful and the sense of connection I have with it and it has with the spirits is hard to put into words. The skill and craftsmanship make it a thing of beauty too. ReplyDeleteThe idea of making a rattle was Phil's, which was perfect in itself as I had very recently been told by someone else that a rattle would help me. The whole expeience was very beautiful, especially so because in the woods, the winds were high and the energies were raw! The rattle is healing, powerful and unique matching and holding the energies felt during the day on which it was created. Thank you so much Phil for the experience, skill and friendship.
